An
Infectious Disease/Bioterrorism module has been created that consists of three
levels: 1.) symptoms noted during investigation, 2.) symptoms noted during
autopsy, and 3.) lab confirmation of disease. An alert system has been
incorporated that will notify the proper officials in specific instances. In
order for this module to be utilized to its fullest potential, it is crucial for
all counties to enter data into the system in a timely and efficient manner.
At the request of the MDCH, an alert system has been introduced to the system that will prompt counties to submit a faxable form to the county’s local public health department where instances of death attributed to infectious disease or incidences of bioterrorism activities. The form will be generated from data entered into the web application and will be specific to the county of origin. The alert will be produced when various syndromic characteristics entered into the web application meet reporting criteria and will have all the necessary information on the form to be faxed to the county’s local public health department.
